About Maryland

Maryland, one of the thirteen original colonies, has voted in all 58 presidential elections. A predominantly blue state, it has only voted for a Republican three times since 1960: Richard Nixon in 1972, Ronald Reagan in 1984, and George H. W. Bush in 1988. Key issues for the state include sports betting, minimum wage, abortion access, transportation, and the legalization of cannabis. Maryland borders DC, the nation’s capital, making it the home of many federal workers. The average Marylander will eat 7 pounds of old bay in their lifetime.
