About Louisiana
Louisiana is a Southern state which has consistently voted for the Republican candidate in the 21st century. Its population is dominated by the city of New Orleans on the Mississippi Delta, although there are urban areas such as Shreveport and Baton Rouge in the north. Despite 6 out of 7 House seats as well as both Senate seats considered safe for the Republican candidate, a Democrat, John Bel Edwards, currently sits in the governor's seat. In recent years, Louisiana has been affected heavily by natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, which will only get worse as global temperatures rise.
