About Maine
Maine is a state in New England that borders the Atlantic Ocean and is the northeasternmost state in the continental United States. It is sparsely populated and generally cold, and about 90% of the state is covered by forests. Voter registration favors the Democratic Party with 4 registered Democrats to every 3 registered Republicans, but it also has a sizeable 35.9% of voters not registered with either major party. Mainers are primarily concerned about the environment, healthcare, and the economy. As of right now, Maine is the only state that uses ranked-choice voting at the state and federal levels.
