About Alabama

Alabama is a strong republican state with a long history of electing republican representatives. The exceptions to this are the cities of Montgomery and Birmingham where the population tends to vote democratic. Hot button issues in Alabama are abortion and education laws. Currently, voters may request absentee ballots with COVID-19 as an acceptable reason, but specific ID is required for the request and two witnesses must sign on the absentee ballot making it more difficult to vote. Alabama has had high COVID-19 severity with ~160,000 cases and ~2,600 deaths as of October 7th 2020.
