About South Carolina
South Carolina is a Republican stronghold state that the President won back in 2016. As the 8th state to join the union and the location of the first battle of the Civil War, South Carolina has deep-seated southern roots that it still sees the effects of today. The state is concerned with the Affordable Care Act, immigration, ballot access requirements, and taxes. As an odd rule, South Carolina doesn't allow for party registration, but rather has people only vote in one primary, whichever they choose. South Carolina is known for its beaches and mountains, which are frequent vacation destinations, including Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head.
