About Mississippi

Mississippi has historically leaned Republican, consistently voting for Republican candidates in House and Presidential elections between 2008 and 2018. All down ballot races are solid, with no predicted Democratic Senators and only one out of four House races leaning Democrat. It has a fairly high black population at 37.80% and a low college education rate at 21.80%. The cost of voting index of 1.30 is high: an ID is required and mail-in ballots are only provided to absentees and people in quarantine. Hot button issues include public education, healthcare, roads, and taxes. Fun fact: Mississippi's flag is currently being redesigned and will be voted on in the upcoming election.
